Poetica meets at the intersection of dance, poetry, and community.

Created by dance educator and writer Amanda (Sieradzki) Gabaldon in 2018, the company has premiered interdisciplinary choreographies in alternative spaces and venues, as well as provided community classes & workshops for all ages and abilities. Collaboration is the goal, bodies and voices in motion are the vehicles, and story is where we come alive together.

Artistic Director & Founder, Amanda (Sieradzki) Gabaldon earned her MFA in Performance and Choreography from Florida State University and BA in Writing from the University of Tampa. She studied at The Ailey School in NYC and under Anne Green Gilbert at the Summer Dance Institute for Teachers in Brain Compatible Dance Education in Seattle, WA. Amanda’s pedagogy builds on Gilbert’s brain compatible dance curriculum to emphasize creativity and strengthen mind-body connections while incorporating poetic forms and creative writing. She is a dance faculty member at the University of Tampa and the University of South Florida, an an arts journalist for Creative Pinellas’ Arts Coast Journal, the Tallahassee Council on Culture & Arts, DIYdancer Magazine, & ArtsATL.

“I love the creativity that is naturally embedded into the process. With Poetica, I feel like I have a voice and it’s being heard.”
